What are Biomechanical Orthotics?

Biomechanical

Biomechanical Orthotics are artificial braces that support a limb or spine. Most commonly used on the foot, orthotics can also be applied to the ankle, knee, arms, wrists, and upper body, including the neck. They are often used by athletes and patients who recently experienced an injury.

Orthotics help provide stability throughout daily activities or while playing sports. It can also reduce pain. This can be especially helpful for patients who may experience acute or chronic pain, but are unable to be treated with surgery.

Orthotics can be made from different types of material, including plastic, metal, elastic, other similar materials, or even a combination of various ones. It’s purpose is to provide alignment and support. They are often customized to create a proper fit.
