Ariel M. Latimer, COTA
Dan Vogelbach, PT, ATC/L, President / Owner
Dan Vogelbach graduated from Marietta college in Ohio in 1982 with a degree in Sports Medicine and Athletic Training. He then attended West Virginia University school of Physical Therapy from 1982 to 1984. As a nationally certified athletic trainer and licensed physical therapist he began working at the sports medicine clinic in Morgantown West Virginia where he worked with the University athletes as well as for small colleges, local high schools and community athletes. In 1989, he became the Central Florida administrator for HealthSouth Rehabilitation Corporation for two years and then became the National Clinical Director. This involved developing education programs for over 2000 physical therapists, physical therapy assistants, occupational therapists and athletic trainers. It also entailed setting up clinics across the country and working with large corporations such as UPS, Delta Airlines, Walmart, Boeing and FedEx to reduce injuries and provide outcome based physical therapy to their injured workers. In 1996, he opened Sports Specialty and Rehabilitation which has grown from one location to three locations and has been open for the last 21 years.
Clinically Dan has been a consultant for the NBA, Professional Soccer Association and, Major League Baseball and the NFL trainers Association with regards to foot and ankle injuries and Lower Extremity Biomechanics. He works with athletes from all the professional sports associations. He has published multiple articles on lower extremity biomechanics and foot and ankle injuries as well as had a book published on the function of the lower extremity and how to treat injuries associated with the foot and ankle.
Stephanie Saver, DPT, OTR/L
Stephanie graduated from University of Colorado with a Bachelors in Psychology . After serving in the Peace Corps, as a health volunteer, she decided to pursue a career in therapy. Having a passion for orthopedics, sports injuries and the upper extremity she enrolled in a dual degree program. She received her Masters in Occupational Therapy in 2013 and Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2014 from The University of St Augustine. She has been working as an Occupational and Physical Therapist in the outpatient setting with a focus in orthopedics and upper extremity in the Baltimore, MD area and recently relocated to FL. She recently completed a Physical Therapy Orthopedic residency program to further her education in orthopedic practice.
James Stoeberl, MSPT
James Stoeberl joined the Sports Specialty team in 2004. He received his Master of Science in Physical Therapy at Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia in 2002. Prior to relocating to Southwest Florida, he started his career working as a physical therapist in Washington, DC where he had the opportunity to treat a variety of patients and professional athletes. After a short period of time, he accepted an offer to manage a physical therapy office in a sports and health club in Virginia and was promoted to a director of two clinics.
James has been a director with Sports Specialty for over a decade. He is a Matheson trained functional capacity evaluator. He is passionate and takes great pride in working with his patients to get them back to life, work, sports, and play. When he is not in the clinic, he is most likely spending time with his wife and children, and/or looking for his next fishing spot!
Ariel M. Latimer, COTA
Ariel graduated from Keiser University in Fort Myers, Florida with an Associate’s degree in Science/OTA. She has ten years of expertise in the healthcare industry as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, CNA, Home Caregiver, Physical and Occupational Therapist Tech, and Massage Therapist. Ariel has experience working in sports medicine, orthopedics, wound care, and upper extremity injuries.
Ariel was raised in Cottonwood, Arizona and has been living in Southwest Florida for 4 years. Ariel enjoys what the Southwest Florida area has to offer, including outdoor activities such as kayaking, fishing, and camping.
Sindy Delva, PTA
Sindy Delva is a 2016 graduate of Broward Community College’s Physical Therapy Assistant program. She is a native of the island of St. Martin, and enjoys Crossfit, furthering her education on health and wellbeing, and providing quality healthcare to Southwest Florida.
Todd Santore, DPT
Todd has nearly 10 years of experience in the science and art of physical therapy intervention. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio. He then spent 3 years as a catcher in the Northern Independent Baseball League. Afterward, he continued his studies and earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy at Nova Southeastern University. During graduate school, he furthered honed his skills as an intern at Champions Sports Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama. He then began his career at Beachside Physical Therapy in Melbourne, Florida.
In 2009, Todd joined Sports Specialty and Rehabilitation Center. As Clinical Director, he brings added perspective as a professional in the field and as a competitive athlete. He works with each of his patients to help them improve their impairments and ultimately their functional capabilities.
His holistic approach to patient care was further refined when he had the privilege of studying under Tom Dalonzo-Baker, founder of Total Motion Release. This approach is utilized to treat the entire body, in addition to providing patients a life-long education to manage and treat their symptoms following physical therapy intervention.
Jennifer Pfister, PTA
Jennifer graduated from Broward Community College in 2001 with an Associate’s Degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant. Since that time, she has been working in out-patient rehab with an emphasis on orthopedics. Jennifer’s continuing education includes RockTape Functional Movement Taping Level 1 and 2, ETPS Neuroanatomical Pain Therapy, Manual Treatment of the Lumbar Spine and Pelvis, and Manual Treatment of the Cervical Spine and Shoulder.
Kristen Mandich, PTA
Kristen graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University in 2010 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Science and later on graduated from Broward College in 2015 with her PTA degree. Since her graduation, Kristen has been treating patients in the outpatient setting and has completed continuing education courses in Manual Evaluation, Correction, and Treatment of SI joint and RocktTape FMT Levels 1 and 2. In her free time, Kristen enjoys traveling around the world, boating, spending time with her family, and cheering on the Florida Gators!
Nicole Hudson, OT
Nicole Hudson graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University with her Bachelor’s in Community Health and Master’s in Occupational Therapy. Nicole is passionate about her career in outpatient rehabilitation with a focus on the upper extremity. She specializes in a variety of injuries, including fractures, arthritis, wound care, tendon injuries, strains/sprains, and nerve injuries. Nicole is also skilled with customized splinting for prevention and post-surgical recovery.
Melissa Lewis, OT, PTA, CHT
A graduate of Florida Gulf Coast University with a BS in Occupational Therapy as well as a graduate of the University of Alabama with an AS in Physical Therapy, Melissa is licensed as an Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist Assistant, and is a Certified Hand Therapist. She is also a member of the American Society of Hand Therapists (ASHT).
In the last 14 years, Melissa has specialized in therapy of the hand and upper extremity, working directly with Fellowship trained hand surgeons throughout Southwest Florida. Melissa has extensive experience in the treatment of traumatic injuries requiring repairs and reconstruction of the elbow, wrist, and hand, work and sports related injuries, and arthritic conditions. These techniques include manual therapy myofascial release, joint mobilization, neuromuscular re-education, therapeutic exercise, wound care, education in joint protection, use of ultrasounds, electrical stimulation, and custom splinting. Melissa also enjoys her role as a clinical instructor for Occupational Therapy students from various accredited universities across the United States and has participated in their Master level research studies.
Peter Suckow LPTA, FMT-C
Peter is a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant at our Lehigh Acres location. Peter originally hails from Massachusetts, though he has lived and worked throughout the United States. This is his second career after many years in the Construction Safety industry. After the economic downturn, Peter felt it was time to reinvent himself. He returned to school to become a Physical Therapist Assistant. Upon graduating from Broward College, Peter started practicing at Sports Specialty as a PTA. Peter is certified in Functional Movement Techniques, allowing him to help patients reach their goals.
Lucas Witmer, DPT
Luke graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science in 2012, and from University of North Florida with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree in 2016. Luke enjoys working with people of all ages and strives to provide the best quality physical therapy rehabilitation available in the Fort Myers area. Luke specializes in general non-operative and post-operative orthopedic rehabilitation as well as sports medicine. As a competitive athlete, Luke has enjoyed working with a wide range of athletes from the amateur to professional level.
Lyn Hemphill, PTA
Lyn Hemphill has been employed at Sports Specialty and Rehabilitation Center since 1999. She received her AS degree in Physical Therapist Assistant from Broward College in 1997. Her work experience has been in outpatient orthopedics for nearly 20 years.
Megan HoChan, DPT
Megan HoChan graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor’s in Exercise Science. She then received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Gulf Coast University in 2012. Throughout her career, she has treated a wide spectrum of patients, ranging from pediatrics and orthopedic injuries as well as treatment to geriatric populations. She has continued her education with courses in manual therapy techniques, pediatrics, and functional movement taping.
Katlyn Goeke, PTA
Katlyn Goake received her AS degree in Physical Therapy Assistant from Southern Illinois University in 2014. Her work experience has been in outpatient orthopedics.
Jennifer Mills, COTA
Jennifer Mills is a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant. She graduated from Keiser University in 2014. Jennifer also holds a BA in Business Management from Cleary University.
