Pain Management: Dealing with Chronic Pain

Physical therapy is a healthy and highly recommended treatment for long term pain or injury. Through movement, building strength and flexibility, and manual techniques, patients find they feel better and pain decreases. It takes consistency and discipline, but physical therapy programs directed toward symptoms of chronic pain have been proven to be highly effective.

Sports Specialty and Rehabilitation’s Pain Management Program

This program helps the patients with chronic pain manage their symptoms while remaining productive at work and home. The program includes a comprehensive evaluation and exercise prescription tailored to the individual’s symptoms. Soft tissue mobilization exercises & proper body mechanics and home exercises are addressed. The focus is not only on the elimination of chronic pain, but to teach lifelong self-management skills to allow the patient to successfully manage their symptoms.

One of our licensed clinicians will take careful note of any parts of your body that are experiencing weakness, stiffness that may be contributing to your pain. The types of exercises and treatments fitted into your program will be specifically aimed to address those problems.

These exercises and treatments may include:

  • Cardiovascular Exercises
  • Strength Training
  • Flexibility Exercises
  • Soft Tissue Mobilization
  • Individualized Home Programs

Your program may combine other elements, such as heat and cold packs to address inflammation and at-home exercises in addition to your regular physical therapy appointments.

Here at Sports Specialty and Rehabilitation Centers, we work closely with our patience to help them achieve the best results possible.
